BIG BURST NERFED! – Class updates for Shadowlands

Raids, mythic plus season and pvp season has begun. You can now get into some of the end game content of the World of Warcraft with the mythic race starting next week. Let us layout the available upgrades and focus on any class changes that have happened recently.

Class changes

On the PVE side, things are looking calm at the very beginning. Hunters would no longer be able to have wild spirits double dipped into their mastery. Instead, the ability itself is going to be buffed so it does a fair amount of damage for Marksman. It still will have aspects of your mastery that works with it but will no longer do the double dip because it will completely ruin the scaling. This will not make the wild spirits as an ability any much worse, the buff to wild spirits is just to keep it relevant. Should not affect performance of those Marksmanship hunters who chose Night Fae.

Monks, who have been in the Beta and the Alpha, one of the buggiest classes in the game mostly because every single week there seemed to be another bug or an old one that resurfaced which caused some turmoil. Blizzard fixed most of the bugs but with Monks there might be some which are hopefully not too game breaking. Let us expect Blizzard to continue fixing any issues with Monks going forward, issues must be reported immediately for them to address quickly. There was a small adjustment with mind games and shadowy duel which could be big in some situations. However, on the pve side, nobody got nerfed going to the dungeons and raids. Maybe next time we’ll see some issues but so far no one got tagged down. We’ll see in the following week/s how it goes.

WoW Shadowlands - Update 9.0.1 Monk Class Changes | Attack of the Fanboy

In the PVP side, we have had significant changes. Conquest weapons are no longer in the achievement category so you can buy those weapons as soon as you have enough conquest. If you have had some major changes player to player, Astronaut is going to have more players and if you get killed by a player in the maw you don’t drop extra stygium and certain trinkets will now have visuals and sounds properly playing. Hunters, Paladins and Rogues were also tagged quite a bit. Hunters are known for their one shot-double tap-aim shot wombo combo, especially Zakarian. We have seen that combo play out multiple times. Aim shot no longer deals 10% increased damage in pvp since aim shot and Marksman feel a lot better on damage thus they don’t need that extra 10%. Also, particularly with double tap going aim shot play style, it deals 50% reduced damage in pvp in all pvp situations. This should hopefully fix the one shot capability of our Marksman Hunter. It will still give hunters the opportunity to do big damage inside of team compositions like 2v2s and 3v3s.

Paladins with bringing clarity for Kyrian is the only one that’s been much of a wombo combo. With the ability of the Kyrian, divine toll, what it could do with the conduit is that it allows divine toll to throw extra judgements percent chance to drop extra judgement onto a single target. With ringing clarity conduit, you would throw divine toll and sometimes you would have instead one judgement fly to your primary target instead of three. That gives Paladins quite a bit of burst because there are honor tunnels that work off of judgements as well. So ringing clarity can now only trigger two extra multicasts if it drops for pvp. This is still viable for pve so only two hammers will fly and divine toll will deal less damage in pvp situations. Even if hammers get a proc, it will be quite a bit of burst but not a global one shot type that we have seen in the past. Final reckoning is also getting a nerf in pvp where holy power abilities will do 30% more damage. Twenty percent damage lost from that ability might get Paladins to play other talents in a row. We have seen a lot of Paladins play final reckoning and it must have been lucrative. There are also rogues with reverberation for the echo and reprimand reducing the damage by 30% but only when you are using the conduit. So they are not nerfing that is going to be permanent but there is reference damage if you use the ability of reverberations. Thus it still makes it viable for any pve single target capability but for the sub rogues that went with a 100% crit, echo and reprimand with the reverberation just did way too much damage. It is interesting that Blizzard decided to tackle Subtlety rogues because we have seen Outlaw and Assasination rogues use this ability too but it is mostly been used for Subtlety and they are not nerfing the 100% crit but rather nerfing a particular combo that sub rogues had in the one shots which is interesting.

Raid changes

Blizzard made changes to the raid legendaries. We don’t want to be forming legendaries on normal, heroic and mythic just to have a low chance to drop it. Instead, Blizzard made all raid legos 100% drop when you kill certain bosses which makes it that much easier for yours to catch up and and much easier for your mains to get the best assault legends you need. Be sure to check out loot tables from the raid to see what legendaries drop for your class and if any of them are best in slot, slaying the boss on normal, heroic and mythic is going to guarantee you your legendary.

Older Trinkets

Anything that is an older trinket form the previous expansion has been heavily nerfed. This  means, riding segment of dressygath might see a lot less play in arenas and a variety of other trinkets from BFA has also been nerfed which could be a good thing moving forward. The old content or gear is going to be pretty good if you are geared from head to toe in full mythic gear from previous raid. Eventually you would want that gear to be rotated out for you already played with dressygath, bikes and arenas thus we don’t want to see the same old again. Classes which had 100% big burst combo put together with a segment of dressygath that was still viable would have been a really strong combo.
