A mid-season update where we will be covering the best 2v2 compositions for every class!
The tier list results have been consulted with some of the best players in the world to present you for the best composition for each spec that fits in the patch 9.0.5

Death Knights + Restoration Shaman/Druid
Playing with a Resto Shaman might be the most consistent option due to their incredible mana efficiency. Resto Druids also works well since they are very durable in 2v2 against other melee DPS and are unmatched to their ability to get drinks.
Demon Hunters + Restoration Shaman
DH is unique as it is the only class that has a mana burn. Mana Rift can be used in combination with stuns to slowly drain the mana bar of an enemy healer. When combined with the mana efficiency of the Resto Shaman, you can win the mana battle against your enemies.
Restoration Druid + Holy Paladin
Druids can help cover up one of the main weaknesses of Holy Paladin, which is their mana, with Innervate and passive tankiness.
Feral Druid + Holy Priest
HP offers really good single target damage to compliment the FD’s docks. Adaptive Swarm combined with Draught of Deep Focus allows to make insane dot damage and all your cover up helps the weaknesses of the Holy Priest.
Restoration Druid + Beast Mastery Hunter/Mage
The primary strength of these compositions is that you have amazing crowd control chains by following up Freezing Trap or Polymorph with Cyclone. BM Hunters offer way more consistent single target damage while Mages give you more control. Both options perform really good against the meta.
Druid + Warrior
This is a really strong attrition based composition not by winning crowd control setups but by gradually wearing down enemy mana.
Hunter + Holy Priest
HPs are by far the best healer in 2v2 and their damage and control synergizes well with the hunter toolkit. You can get really strong crowd control chains on enemy healers while doing high single target damage along with your Priest.
Rogue + Mage
This composition does really well into most meta teams due to having tons of control and bursts with the ability to easily reset fights.
Holy Priest + Restoration Druid
Both of which synergize well by offering more control and damage. Having a Psychic Scream or Cyclone to follow your Polymorphs opens up a control based win condition that is unmatched by other compositions.
Mistweaver Monk + Arms Warrior
Warriors cover a lot of the MW’s weaknesses with their defensive toolkit. On top of that, Mistweavers can play with Song of Chi-Ji in 2v2 giving them a long crowd control with Paralysis and Leg Sweep. Along with the constant damage Warrior’s ring in, your goal is to win the attrition war.
Wind Walker Monks + Holy Paladins
HP can cover WWM’s weaknesses very well. Windwalker Monks are relatively not so durable on their own but with Holy Paladin’s defensive rotation, they have a lot of options to cycle through. Aside from that, Holy Paladins offer a reliable kill setup for Windwalker Monks with the ability to use Blinding Light or Hammer of Justice as the same time as Leg Sweep to get reliable go’s on enemy teams.
Retribution Paladin + Holy Priest
While having ranged crowd control with Chastise, you can get consistent kill setups, cross crowd control, and kill targets with Hammer of Justice. The primary weakness in this composition is not having a Mortal Strike. Meaning, you are heavily reliant on your cooldowns on order to score kills.
Mages + Subtlety Rogues
The damage burst and control of these classes synergizes well with your cooldown damage and you can provide some defensive coverage with your off-healing.
Hunter + Fire Mage
Again, your damage and control synergizes well with these classes with hunters offering more consistent pressure and mages giving you better burst windows plus overall control.
Beast Mastery Hunter + Holy Priest
These are considered the best specs in your bracket and your win condition is to follow up the tracks to an extended crowd control chains on healers while your hunter does huge consistent damage.
Assassination Rogue + Restoration Shaman/Holy Priest
ARs do some of the highest consistent damage in 2v2 and thanks to the Necrolord covenant, they have a bit more durability that allows them to do continuous pressure. Resto Shamans offer some additional offensive support with Purge and even some damage support with instant cast Lava Bursts.
Elemental/Enhancement Shamans + Holy Priest/Paladin
The stuns and kills setups they give you are really reliable. But if you want to play with a DPS in your 2v2, you would either switch it up with a ret paladin or feral druid. Together, you can do some amazing damage with your bursts while having the defensive coverage of off-heals for each other.
Restoration Shaman + Arms Warrior
The mana efficiency of RS combined with a constant pressure and defensive toolkit of Warriors, your win condition is just to outlast your enemies’ mana bar.
Destruction Warlock + Holy Priest/Restoration Druid
Both of these classes give the Warlocks stun that allows them to have more reliable setups. With Chaos Bolt, RDs and Priests also give Warlocks some additional mobility option with priests having Leap of Faith and druids having roots and snares to control enemy melee.
The same concept applies with the other Warlocks, Affliction and Demonology, where Holy Priests and Resto Druids fit best when it comes to 2v2. Having the additional threat of Mindgames which is punishing in the late game when used alongside Unstable Affliction for a deadly combination of dispel protection.
Warriors + Restoration Druids
One distinct advantage that they have is how durable they are against physical damage dealers. Their Frenzied Regeneration combined with Necrolord defensives allows them to be passively durable. They also have the best mobility out of any healer for avoiding melee damage entirely.
