EVERYTHING Coming in Shadowlands Patch 9.1 Chains of Domination

Let’s talk about everything that’s coming on the first major content update of Shadowlands, Chains of Domination. This launches on PTR next week, so let’s go over all of the brand new features coming to the game in this major content update.

1:13 COVENANTS

Covenants will be receiving quite a big update in 9.1 including 40 new levels of renown. So renown will be going all the way up to 80 in patch 9.1. Alongside that will be some brand new covenant campaigns, no doubt also those 40 levels of renown will also have some rewards attached to them. And of course the major update to covenants is the inclusion of flying through the covenant campaign. Shadowlands Pathfinder will be unlocked through that, no reputation or anything like that, it’ll simply just be through renown. And completing that will also give you a mount for each of your covenants. So each of the 4 covenants do have their very own mounts. Fly in all the regular zones, not in the Maw or in Oribos. You will also be able to fly in Bastion, Revendreth, Ardenweald and Maldraxxus.

Alongside flying, we will also get a new armor set from each of the covenants. This is an armor set that goes across all armor types so each covenant will only receive one of them.

2:41 KORTHIA

One of the major pieces of content of patch 9.1 for players to do is Korthia The City of Secrets. This is going to be a brand new area of the Maw which will include dailies, mount and pets to collect and presumably some new mount grinding. Hopefully Korthia will be a fun zone although we did not see a lot of it in BlizzConline.

3:30 THE MAW

The Maw will be getting updates as well. Stygia the currency of 9.0 will be removed and replaced with a brand new currency from Ve’nari. So spend all your Stygia right now because by the time 9.1 comes out it’s going to be removed or sources of Stygia will be removed.

All mounts will be usable in the Maw. So you no longer need to go to the Twisted Corridors or anything like that for you will be able to use all of your mounts in the Maw.  The Maw will not be as aggressive, it won’t be a super terrifying zone that you’re just going to die all the time and lose your Stygia. They’re actually removing the Eye of the Jailer as well. So my assumption is that it is going to be a normal zone going into 9.1, a much more manageable zone.

4:37 TORGHAST

Torghast will be gaining a ton of new updates in patch 9.1 as well including new floors, foes, traps and powers. Blizzard also said that the Tarragrue will now be removed as well as the death council. Presumably these will be replaced with some other sort of mechanic. They also teased new layers and rewards for the Twisted Corridors but nothing to announce right now unfortunately. Looking forward to the new layers’ aesthetics and I hope these layers will be different.

5:29 RAID: SANCTUM OF DOMINATION

Of course with every new patch we get a brand new raid, the Sanctum of Domination. This is a 10 boss raid located in Torghast I believe.

We actually already know 50% of the bosses in this 10 boss raid one of them being the Tarragrue’s Revenge which obviously goes in line with the Tarragrue being removed from Torghast.

Interesting line up of bosses, looking forward to what kind of boss fight that will actually end up being. It’s going to be a very interesting raid for sure. The raid testing will be happening a week after the PTR.

6:42 MEGADUNGEON

We’ll also be getting an 8 boss Megadungeon, Tazavesh the Veiled Market. This is the broker megadungeon of patch 9.1. Currently going to be mythic only, presumably mythic plus and heroic coming in the next couple of patches.

We will be getting a mount from the Megadungeon and unique looking weapons. Also it has an infinite pirate dragon.

7:47 SHADOWLANDS SEASON 2

We’ll be getting Shadowlands Season 2 for PVP and PVE. This brings increased item levels across the board through PVP and PVE. A new mythic plus affix called Domination is also coming. Blizzard also announced they are going to do an Honor Talent Refresh, getting rid of some of the least used Honor Talents. Which is going to be interesting for PVPs.
